Gurobi will be holding technology and software workshops, as well as having an exhibit booth — all showcasing the latest enhancements to the Gurobi Optimizer

Gurobi Optimizer 5.0 will be unveiled at the 2012 INFORMS Conference on Business Analytics and Operations Research, which will be held April 15-17 at the Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach in Huntington Beach, California.

With the release of version 5.0, Gurobi Optimization continues to build out and refine the features and performance of the Gurobi Optimizer to provide our users with the best LP, QP, and MIP solver available. Some of the new additions and enhancements that will be shared in our booth and events include:

  • New QCP and MIQCP solvers using an advanced SOCP algorithm
  • New MATLAB and R interfaces
  • Support for Lazy Constraints
  • Enhancements to handling infeasible and unbounded problems
  • Enhancements to overall performance

Gurobi Optimization will be very active at this INFORMS Conference, with a technology workshop, exhibit booth and software tutorial, held at various times during the conference. This is a great opportunity for those interested in learning more about these new enhancements, and how they can be used by OR professionals to build and deploy better models with less effort.

Workshop: Recent Improvements in the Gurobi Optimizer

Presented by:
Dr. Robert Bixby, President, CEO and Co-founder, Gurobi Optimization
Dr. Edward Rothberg, COO and Co-founder, Gurobi Optimization

Location:
Fountain West Room

Time:
Sunday, April 15th 1:00pm to 2:45pm

This workshop will examine recent developments in the Gurobi Optimizer with emphasis on the newly released Version 5.0. We will begin by looking at the new Gurobi QCP and MIQCP solvers together with a number of other important feature improvements. We will also talk about the newest enhancements in the modeling capabilities of our Python interactive shell and show how this interface can be used to do many of the things that might otherwise require a modeling language. Finally, a summary of recent performance benchmark results will be presented.

Tutorial: The New Gurobi QCP/SOCP Optimizer

Presented by:
Dr. Edward Rothberg, COO and Co-founder, Gurobi Optimization

Location:
Seacliff Room

Time:
Tuesday, April 17 10:30am to 11:20pm

With our new Gurobi 5.0 release, we can now solve quadratically-constrained models (QCP and MIQCP). The new capability is built on top of an efficient Second-Order Cone Programming (SOCP) solver. This tutorial will focus on some of the design choices we’ve made in building this new optimizer, and the impact these choices have on overall performance and robustness.

Exhibit Booth: Gurobi Optimization

Location:
Exhibit Hall – Booth 28

Times:
Sunday, April 15 6:30pm to 8:00pm
Monday, April 16 8:00am to 4:30pm
Tuesday, April 17 9:00am to 3:30pm

Stop by and learn more about the Gurobi Optimizer, meet some of the team, and pick up a copy of Optimization for Dummies for yourself or others.
